One pip looks tiny. Multiply it by your trade size and it decides your whole risk. See the exact value in USD for any instrument.

Pip Value
Updates live as you type.
A pip (percentage in point) is the smallest standard price move of a currency pair. For most major pairs like EURUSD one pip is 0.0001; for JPY pairs it's 0.01.
Example: with 1.00 lot of EURUSD, a 20-pip move changes your P&L by $200. On 0.10 lots, it's $20. Knowing this number before you click is how you keep a bad entry from becoming a blown account.
CoreTrade pre-sets pip conventions for 120+ instruments and calculates P&L automatically when you log a trade — no mental math.
Indicative USD values. JPY and cross pairs vary with the exchange rate; confirm with your broker.
| Instrument | 1 pip move | 1.00 lot | 0.10 lot | 0.01 lot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EURUSD | 0.0001 | $10.00 | $1.00 | $0.10 |
| GBPUSD | 0.0001 | $10.00 | $1.00 | $0.10 |
| USDJPY | 0.01 | ≈$6.70 | ≈$0.67 | ≈$0.07 |
| XAUUSD (Gold) | $0.01 | ≈$1.00 | ≈$0.10 | ≈$0.01 |
| BTCUSD | $1.00 | $1.00 | $0.10 | $0.01 |
A pip is the standard 0.0001 (or 0.01 for JPY). A pipette is the fifth decimal (0.00001) that most brokers quote — it shows finer price granularity but the pip remains the unit you measure risk in.
For pairs where USD is the quote currency (EURUSD, GBPUSD), pip value is fixed at $10 per lot. For pairs quoted in another currency (USDJPY, EURGBP) pip value in USD changes with the exchange rate — which is why this calculator asks for the current price.
Pip value converts your technical stop (in pips) into your financial risk (in dollars). Two traders can place the same '20-pip stop' and risk completely different amounts — the number of lots is what changes.
Multiply the pip value in the quote currency by the exchange rate between that currency and your account currency. For EURUSD with a USD account it is already in dollars; for USDJPY you divide by the USDJPY rate.
A mini lot (0.10) is one tenth of a standard lot, so about $1 per pip on EURUSD instead of $10. A micro lot (0.01) is about $0.10 per pip. The value is always proportional to your lot size.
Because contract sizes, pip definitions and account-currency conversions differ between brokers. Use this as a fast estimate and confirm the exact value in your platform's contract specification.
